Action Plan for Open Data Philippines up for consultation

The Open Data Philippines Task Force has published its 2014-2016 Action Plan for public perusal. The document provides the guiding principles, framework, and activities of Open Data Philippines, a groundbreaking Philippine government transparency program.

"It also provides the context for the entire open government data agenda, which is that this program is a commitment of the government, particularly the Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Cabinet Cluster, to the people," said Gia Banaag, Co-Lead Coordinator of the program.

The Action Plan details the program's outreach agenda, the features of data.gov.ph, and even the program's evaluation instrument, among others. "We'd like Open Data Philippines to be a program not just like any other initiative rolled-out by government to the public," added Co-Lead Coordinator Gabe Baleos. "As we have been emphasizing, open government data is just as about the users of the data as its publishers."

In the spirit of open governance, the Task Force would like to solicit input from the public on how the program could best achieve its goals. Those who would like to give feedback may email open@data.gov.ph, post a message on facebook.com/datagovph, or tweet @datagovph.
