Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries to undergo agri-business training

Zamboanga City- Some fifty Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries in Tigbalag, this city, were chosen as scholars of the “Kabalikat Farmer’s Training Program”, a joint project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), SM Foundation, Inc., Harvest Agribusiness Corporation, and the City Agriculture Office.

The program which was launched on Wednesday aims to provide a 13-week training for farmers in growing and maintaining their own vegetable garden. It will include lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

They will be taught how to grow honeydew or melon, sweet corn, and other vegetable varieties.

Under the program, scholars should have at least 200-square meters of lot where they can apply what they learned.

Aside from the fifty scholars from the Pantawid Pamilya, another fifty farmers and twenty agriculture technologist identified by the City Agriculture Office will also join the training.

The participants will display and sell their produce during the closing activity.

DSWD-Field Office IX Director Zenaida Arevalo, SM Foundation Assistant Vice-President Cristie Angeles, Harvest Agribusiness Corp.
