The overall success of His Holiness’ trip is credited to many individuals—among them government staff and law enforcement personnel, church groups and media, as well as all those who participated in the papal activities. The general mindfulness the public exhibited not only ensured the safety of Pope Francis and our fellowmen, but also showed to the world the remarkable discipline of the Filipino people. 2015 is truly Visit the Philippines Year. As host of the year-round meetings leading up to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, our country will continue to welcome delegates from APEC member economies and organize a series of discussions aimed at sustainable economic growth and regional development. Following last month’s Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM), APEC officials will once again gather for the First Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings (SOM1)—to be held in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, from January 26-February 7. In line with this year’s theme of “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World,” SOM1 will seek to facilitate dialogue toward a more inclusive economic environment in the Asia-Pacific region. As we prepare for these upcoming meetings, we invite the public to watch and share the APEC 2015 Philippines turnover video, which showcases the characteristic warmth and enthusiasm of our people. During SOM1 and throughout our hosting year, let us extend to the visiting delegates the same hospitality with which we welcomed Pope Francis, and show them that it is truly more fun in the Philippines.
