DELA ROSA: NO TO VIGILANTISM IN ANTI-DRUG DRIVE

PNP Chief, Director General Ronald Dela Rosa reiterated today his uncompromising stand against extra-judicial methods of anti-criminality operations particularly against illegal drugs.

Speaking during his regular weekly press briefing in Camp Crame, the Chief PNP also expressed his disapproval of vigilantism in the national anti-drug crusade.

“The PNP does not condone vigilantism. I, personally, will be vigilant against vigilantism,” the Chief PNP said.
During the same news conference, Solicitor –General Jose Calida reaffirmed the commitment of President Rodrigo Duterte to fully support the campaign of the PNP against illegal drugs.

“We will not allow anybody to derail the efforts of the PNP against illegal drugs, he said while he encouraged police personnel not to be afraid of any investigation by constituted probe bodies. “Huwag kayong matakot,” he told members of the PNP.

He explained that the presumption of regularity in the performance of duty is always applicable in every legitimate police operation, unless it is rebutted by reasonable complaint backed by evidence.

However, he cautioned that this principle should not be taken as an excuse to commit extra-judicial methods to accomplish targets.

“The Office of the Solicitor-General is the defender of the People of the Philippines.  I am here to reiterate the support of the Duterte government to the anti-drug campaign, Calida said. (PNP-PIO)
