TACLOBAN
CITY, Leyte, Feb.7 (PIA ) – In line with the recovery efforts of the
National Government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has
been very busy extending help to the people in region 8 who became
jobless after super typhoon Yolanda hit the region last year.
One
of the programs initiated by the government through the Department of
Labor and Employment (DOLE) is the Cash for Work Program where a worker
is being paid by the government for a service/work rendered.
During
the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)
Meeting held at Leyte Sports Development Center (LSDC), in the city,
Engr. Emmanuel Dela Cruz, Safety Engineer of DOLE Region 8 said, that
almost seventy eight million pesos (P78-M) were already incurred by the
government in the implementation of the Cash for Work Program, an
emergency assistance for Yolanda survivors in region 8.
Meanwhile,
DOLE is also reminding all employers hiring cash- for- work workers to
provide the Social Welfare Benefits of workers even if a worker works
for five(5) to fifteen(15) days only and abide the Law on Occupational
Safety and Standards.

DOLE’s reminder was released following
the accident in the Municipality of Tolosa Leyte last January 23, 2014
where a post fall down on a man working or hired under the Cash For Work
Program of an International Organization. (PIA-8) - See more at:
