Pagasa sees Paeng landfall in Albay or Sorsogon late Friday night
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Paeng is expected to make landfall over either Albay or Sorsogon provinces late Friday night, after the cyclone moved closer to the Bicol region.
Updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that as of 7:00 p.m., the eye of Paeng was last seen 165 km East of Juban, Sorsogon.
It maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It is currently moving west-northwest at a speed of 25 kph.
Pagasa’s latest forecast track showed Paeng’s trajectory dipped down again, as it is now expected to hit Camarines Sur around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. By that time, it would have intensified into a severe tropical storm. After this, it would start moving towards Quezon province.
