Taguig police files criminal raps vs cops in ‘warrantless search’ video

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City Police Station filed criminal complaints against 10 of its officers involved in the “warrantless search” video circulating online, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Thursday.

The viral video showed officers allegedly entering a home in Taguig City without a search warrant and manhandling several residents last Sunda

According to the NCRPO’s statement, the Taguig City Police Station filed the following complaints against the officers before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office:

  • Grave coercion
  • Malicious mischief
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Physical injury
  • Robbery
  • Unlawful arrest
  • Violation of domicile
  • Violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act

“NCRPO assures the public that airtight cases were forwarded based on the pieces of evidence uncovered during the investigation, with the sole intention of ensuring that justice will be served to the victims,” the Metro Manila police said.

The officers involved also face an administrative investigation, the NCRPO added.

“NCRPO leadership has already warned police officers to toe the line, adhere to the Police operational procedures and do their job right,” Regional Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said in the statement.

“Any violation of law will not be tolerated and those who violate will face the full force of the law. Let us give to the people the police service they rightly deserve-competent, credible and rule-based policing,” he added.
