Message
The
commemoration of the 115th year of Philippine Independence comes with
renewed strength, hope and faith. For over a century, our revolutionary
forefathers braved any battles to break us free from any bondage; and
sacrificed lives for our country to stand proud among the free nations
of the world, in fact the Asia’s first republic. That historic moment
and this freedom we enjoy were achieved with our patriotism, audacity
and Bayanihan.
Today,
we have witnessed our nation ascend with a strong and growing economy.
We have seen our fellow Filipinos rise to their feet after any storms
and challenges. We now reap the fruits of our labors in good governance
and reforms. And we have finally started the foundations of genuine
and lasting peace and brotherhood in our country. This reaffirms that
true to our heritage of freedom, we will be resolute in preserving and
strengthening the vibrant democracy in our country.
This
year’s theme “Kalayaan 2013: Ambagan tungo sa Malawakang Kaunlaran”
invites us to march together towards our tomorrow and one national
future. Now, more than ever, we need to keep the fire of Bayanihan
alive; we have to work together as one people for a transformed,
peaceful and progressive Philippines.
Toward
these aspirations we, the men and women of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines, pledge anew our commitment to the Filipino nation. With
honor and pride, we vow to fulfill our duties as the protectors and
defenders of the Philippine sovereignty and integrity. We will remain
as this nation’s staunch catalyst of peace and development. And we will
continue to uphold the pillars of good governance, democracy and human
rights – ideals and values that hold us together as one people.
Mabuhay ang malayang Pilipino!
Mabuhay ang ika-isang daan at labinlimang anibersaryo ng kalayaan!
