Roxas attributes DILG's success to LCEs April 17, 2015

Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas celebrated the achievements of the DILG with the mayors of the League of the Municipalities in the Philippines in their general assembly held in Manila Hotel this Wednesday.

"Ang tagumpay ng pamahalaan ay nasa kamay ninyo [mayors]. Ang inyong tagumpay ang siyang accomplishment ko," Roxas said.

The secretary thanked more than 1000 municipal mayors for their support, and Roxas took this as a driving force in his career in public service.

Roxas told mayors about leading the DILG like a 'big brother', and working as an official that mayors can rely on.

''Kayo [Mayors] ang frontliners, kayo ang tinatakbuhan ng mga kababayan. Pinorma ko ang DILG na siyang masasandalan nila, matatakbuhan nila," Roxas stated.

Mayors also personally addressed their needs, concerns, and expectations to Roxas in the said convention.

Roxas announced the purchase of 1470 patrol jeeps for the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the procurement of 469 firetrucks to all LGUs.

According to him, all DILG projects like Bottom-Up Budgeting and SALINTUBIG would continue with objectivity.

"Kinikilala ng Daang Matuwid ang ating mga kababayan bilang mga Boss. Makikita ninyo sa ating mga programa, pantay pantay. Lahat may pagkakataon," Roxas said.

Roxas has been the secretary of the DILG since 2012, continuing the leadership of the late Jesse Robredo.
