PBBM on calls for VP’s impeachment: It’s a storm in a teacup
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stood firm on Friday that he does not support calls for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, as it would not benefit the Filipino people.
The President made the remark despite the tirades hurled by Duterte against the administration.
“This is not important. This does not make any difference to even one single Filipino life. So, why waste time on this?” President Marcos said on the sidelines of the distribution of e-titles and certificates of condonation with release of mortgage (COCROMs) in Quezon province.
“What will happen if somebody files an impeachment? It will tie down the House, it will tie down the Senate. It will just take up all our time and for what? For nothing, for nothing. None of this will help improve a single Filipino life. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a storm in a teacup,” he added.
President Marcos responded affirmatively when asked to confirm a text message supposedly from him that circulated online on Thursday.
The message expressed his opposition to the impeachment calls against the Vice President.
Asked if he had already reached “a point of no return,” President Marcos responded, “Never say never.”
The Chief Executive personally distributed e-titles to 15 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Quezon province. He also gave 11,497 Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROMs) to over 9,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).
Through Republic Act No. 11953, or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act, a total of PhP441.71 million in ARB debts in Quezon were condoned, which include amortization, interests, and surcharges.
More than 600 ARBs in Quezon have received e-titles since July 2022, the President reported. | PND
