Malacanang joins in the celebration of World
Teacher’s Day October 5, 2014

Malacanang on Sunday joins in the celebration of World Teacher’s Day and the National Teachers’ Month and calls for everyone to give thanks to their former teachers.

Coloma noted that the Philippines had the longest celebration that honor teachers, as President Benigno Aquino III signed Proclamation No. 242.

Under Proclamation No. 242, the National Teachers’ Month will be celebrated every year from September 5 to October 5.

The proclamation also states that “it is essential to revitalize the image of teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness on the value of teachers in Philippine society and national development.”

Coloma added that the Aquino administration has almost doubled the budget for education.
