DILG prepares for the 2nd Metro Manila shake drill
Cognizant of the need for
disaster preparedness, the Department of the Interior and Local
Government (DILG) is getting ready for the simultaneous second Metro
Manila shake drill on June 22 at 9 o’clock in the morning.
The Department’s Patrol 117 spearheaded the conduct of the briefing to over 100 personnel from the DILG and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) earlier today at the 27th Floor DILG-NAPOLCOM Center.
Representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) discussed the possible injuries that may be encountered during emergency situations like wound, splinter, sprain, and burn. Then they demonstrated the proper way of giving first aid treatment to injured persons.
Patrol 117 Director Edgar Allan Tabell explained that the intention for the shake drill is to learn the right first aid when faced with the actual emergency situation.
He also added that during the shake drill, the Guadalupe Bridge will be closed for two hours so heavy traffic is expected to happen.
Tabell said.

As part of the shake drill preparation,
selected DILG personnel were assigned to special working committees
during the said event. Among the committees formed for the shake drill
are the Marshalls, Communication, Documentation, Attendance and
Security. The personnel assigned under each committee were given
specific tasks to carry out before, during, and after the said event.
