Gov’t prioritizes women’s education and economic empowerment under Bagong Pilipinas – PBBM
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday lauded the contribution of Filipino women to national development, as he vowed to advance women’s education, welfare and economic empowerment under the Bagong Pilipinas campaign.
“We salute Filipino women, past and present, this #InternationalWomensDay. In our Bagong Pilipinas, we prioritize women’s education and economic empowerment. We are committed to ending violence against women and promoting their leadership roles in every sector,” President Marcos said in a social media posting.
“As we make space for women and champion their rights, we will see a world that is not only stronger and more progressive but also deeply rooted in equity and compassion for all,” he further stated.
In a separate message for the International Women’s Day, President Marcos acknowledged the invaluable role of women, noting that while highlighting the unyielding resilience of women, they helped shape development, and the need to confront the disparities they face.
“In an age marked by rapid growth and transformation, it is imperative for the global community to honor the incalculable worth of women’s contributions across all facets of society and sustain the gains that have emerged from their countless struggles and sacrifices,” Marcos said, stressing ending gender-based violence, discrimination, and biases, nations can nurtures equity, inclusion, and empowerment.
By amplifying the voices of women, championing their rights, and reinforcing their fundamental freedom, everyone can elevate entire communities and nations, “propelling ourselves towards a stronger, more equitable, and more progressive world for all,” Marcos pointed out.
The International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, is a global celebration commemorating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
