Almost 2,000 LGUs nationwide already benefited from LGSF— PBBM

Almost 2,000 local government units (LGUs) have benefitted from the government’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Thursday during the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Tarlac” event in Tarlac City, Tarlac.

“Kaya’t sa mga dalawang libo, halos dalawang libo ang LGU natin sa buong bansa, nakapagbigay na tayo ng 1,276 na LGU, ng LGSF, ng tulong ng LGSF. Kasama na rin diyan yung Rice Program na ating ginawa,” President Marcos said in his speech delivered during the event held at the Tarlac City Civic Center in Barangay Baras-Baras, Tarlac City, Tarlac.

The Chief Executive noted that Filipinos are having a difficult time coping with daily expenses, and that the administration’s program, “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang”, will be continued, especially now that the cost of commodities has gone up due to the oil price increases brought about by the Middle East conflict.

The “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program is a national government initiative led by President Marcos that accelerates local government support, distributes rice aid, and funds student scholarships.

President Marcos said the help includes the distribution of 10-kilogram packs of rice per family of the vulnerable sector, including senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, 4Ps and indigent families, farmers and fisherfolk, and minimum wage earners, including drivers.

“Siyempre, sumasama diyan yung presyo ng pagkain. Eh kaya po aming naisip gawin ito, hindi lang dahil doon, eh dati pa, bago pa nagkagiyera, mayroon na tayong ganitong programa,” the President said.

President Marcos said that the government currently has enough funds to support the program through the LGSF.

With regard to the other program of the government, the cash assistance through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), funded by the Office of the President, this is a PhP200,000 cash assistance for the barangays to fund PhP100,000 for scholarships per barangay, and the other PhP100,000 for the needs of the barangays such as equipment, supplies, and repairs.

President Marcos urged the barangay captains to choose wisely where their PhP200,000 will be used, including choosing deserving students for scholarships, and choosing what projects to finance.

“So bawat barangay, mamili sila ng lima na magiging presidential scholar. So, sa bawat barangay, may limang presidential scholars. Paghahatian ‘yung 100,000 na bawat isa ay makakatanggap ng P20,000. ‘Yun po yung binigay kong cheque sa… iyon ‘yung ABC (Association of Barangay Captains) at ‘yun po ang aming tulong para sa ating mga kabataan para sila’y makapagtapos,” President Marcos told the barangay captains.

“Ang payo lang namin sa ating mga barangay officials, mamili kayo ‘yung malapit nang magtapos at baka hindi makapagtapos dahil kakulangan sa pagbabayad, kailangan magtrabaho. Kung anuman ang nagiging problema ay itong PpP20,000 ay makakatulong sa kanila,” the President said.

“At mahalaga ito dahil kung titingnan po ninyo, ang budget nitong administrasyon nito noong nakaraang taon—itong taon saka sa susunod na taon, talagang pinaka-priority ang edukasyon. Dahil sa aking palagay, ‘yan ang pinakamahalaga na serbisyo na maibibigay natin sa taong-bayan,” President Marcos said.

“Siyempre ang kabataan, ‘yan ang kinabukasan natin. Kaya’t para maging maganda ang kinabukasan ng Pilipinas, kailangan maganda ang naging edukasyon ng ating mga kabataan,” President Marcos also said. | PND
