PNP ASSURES FOREIGN CHAMBERS OF INDUSTRIAL PEACE AND SECURITY

PNP Chief, Director General Alan L Purisima urged multinational business leaders to “promote stronger ties, and build more bridges of cooperation towards a truly progressive and peaceful Philippines”.

Purisima sounded the call before members of the Joint Foreign Chambers during a meeting in Camp Crame on Wednesday.

Purisima said the current operational thrusts of the PNP are focused on creating an atmosphere of industrial peace conducive for economic growth and job generation.

The Chief PNP expressed optimism that the PNP partnership with the JFC will “eventually translate to better and more meaningful cooperation among our institutions leading to an even more vibrant and robust economy.”

The Joint Foreign Chamber comprises some 2,000 business entities operating in the Philippines that are affiliated with of the American, Australian-New Zealand, Canadian, European, Japanese and Korean Chambers of Commerce, including the Philippine Association of Multinational Companies Regional Headquarters Inc (PAMURI).

THE JFC promotes enhancement of mutual trade and investment relations between the Philippines contributing substantial investment, jobs, and tax revenue to the local economy.

The JFC launched in 2010 its major advocacy Arangkada Philippines to increase investment and employment in the Philippines as contained in its main policy document Arangkada Philippines 2010: A Business Perspective.

The PNP-JFC meeting on Wednesday at the PNP National Headquarters was organized by the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) under Police Director Danilo S Constantino to serve as forum for discussion of issues relevant to the PNP, specifically on the status of ongoing reforms initiated to improve the business climate in the Philippines.

Present during the meeting were: Ian Porter, Australia- New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines; Edward Eun-Gap Chang, Korean Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines; John Forbes, American Chamber; Robert Sears, External Affairs, American Chamber; Hubert d’ Aboville, European Chamber of Commerce; Martial Beck, European Chambero Commerce; Nobuo Fujii, Japanese Chamber of Commerce in the Phils; and Simoun Ung, representing the American Chamber (AmCham).

JDF conducts an annual assessment of the Arangkada Philippines recommendations and organizes an annual forum where private and public sector delegates gather to launch the assessment and discuss its findings and reforms to improve Philippine investment climate.(PNP-PIO)
