Schedule of activities bared for Trillion Peso March Part 3


MANILA, Philippines — A day-long series of prayer marches, programs, and a free concert will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 25, across three sites in Quezon City as part of the third installment of the Trillion Peso March, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

In a statement on Friday, various church and civil society groups released a schedule of activities to be held at Edsa Shrine, the People Power Monument, and Eton Centris.

The groups said the main event will be held at the People Power Monument along Edsa on Feb. 25 under the theme, “Tayo ang People Power Laban sa Korapsyon at Dinastiya (We are the People Power against corruption and dynasty)!”


They added that the gathering will urge the passage of an Anti-Dynasty Law, a Party-List Reform Law, and other systemic reforms; call for the prosecution of key perpetrators in the flood control scandal; push for the passage of the Independent People’s Commission and Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption bills; and demand the recovery of ill-gotten wealth from plunderers.


Organizers said the event will feature four parts, beginning with a prayer march from the Edsa Shrine to the People Power Monument, followed by an afternoon program led by civic and church-based coalitions, an evening mass to be presided over by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, and a youth event and concert organized by Caritas Philippines at Eton Centris.

Below are the details and schedule of activities on Feb. 25:


7:00 a.m. – Assembly at Edsa Shrine

8:30 a.m. – Opening program with civil society, religious, and political leaders


9:00 a.m. – Prayer march to People Power Monument

10:00 a.m. – Panata ng Mamamayan at the monument

Part 2 (Morning to afternoon “Tayo ang People Power: Noon, Ngayon, Bukas” program at People Power Monument)

11:00 a.m. – Opening of merchandise booths, partner organizations and school exhibits

2:00 p.m. – Pre-program

3:00 p.m. – Main program: Tayo ang People Power@40: Noon, Ngayon, Bukas

Part 3 (Evening mass at Edsa Shrine)

6:00 p.m. – Holy Mass at the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace

Part 4 (The People’s Power Concert and Launch at Eton Centris)

7:00 p.m. – Gates open

8:00 p.m. – Free outdoor concert featuring Ben&Ben and other artists

Meanwhile, the groups said a nationwide commemoration will take place in 86 Catholic dioceses from Feb. 22 to 25, extending the observance to communities outside Metro Manila. /das
